AI for CRO

Bare bones AI still SUCKS at writing great copy.

Even Fable/Astra copy can feel awful, fake, and unpersuasive.

Unless…

You give it enough context.

I've been impressed by how much better AI copy can be if it has access to specific information about your customers, product, and competitors.

By the way, this shouldn't be a surprise.

After all, since way before the internet, the best copywriters have been the ones who take the time to actually study what they are going to talk about.

At LawnStarter, we've connected AI to an enormous amount of unique data about the business, like sales call transcripts, customer support tickets, and online reviews.

That context has turned AI into a very helpful copy reviewer for me.

Just as an example, I had written something along the lines of “get your time back.”

AI suggested changing it to “Your Saturdays are yours again.”

Getting their Saturdays back was something customers often told us they enjoyed after hiring us.

The information was already there and, on my first draft, I was missing the chance to explore it.

AI made sure the final version would nail it.

With context, AI can also:

· Suggest words or expressions our customers actually use instead of the ones we assume they use.

· Point out benefits our audience cares about that we've barely mentioned.

· Flag objections we haven't addressed and suggest how to tackle them.

· Highlight opportunities to position certain benefits as Unique Selling Propositions when we are talking about something only we do or that we do better than any competitor.

Even with good context, AI still struggles to come up with killer ideas for new copy “by itself”.

But if you are a good copywriter and bring AI in as a partner to help improve your game, it can be a massive help.

Dan Shipper often says the best professionals should be “riding the models” to deliver the best possible work.

That applies to copywriters.

AI with enough context is an unfair advantage and a game-changer even for the most seasoned professionals.
